I met someone at a networking event who collects vintage lunchboxes. Not for investment purposes. Not because they're trendy. Because she thinks they're "delightfully ridiculous" and they make her happy. When she mentioned this, her whole face lit up. She became 100% more interesting and memorable in that moment. How different! How awesome! How memorable! It was a bright spot in an otherwise pretty boring event. (Sigh, it's true.) Your weird is not a bug to be fixed—it's a feature to flaunt. The things that make you different, quirky, or "too much" for some people? Those are exactly the things that make you unforgettable for the RIGHT people.
We're all drowning in sameness. Your weird is the life raft. In a world that is leaning more and more on AI (which I, too, use and mostly love!)... it means our unique "weird" is more and more important, too. Your brave moves assignment this week: Identify one "weird" thing about yourself that you usually downplay. Find a way to let it shine a little brighter. The world needs more YOU. P.S. Last week I shared this fun video series I made over on YouTube.... it's the (maybe weird?) notion that self-confidence is B.S. - and our much more reliable move is to build our own self-trust! You can check out the series here! |
